our educators

our greatest asset is our educators who share our love of children and comittment to providing excellence in childcare education

gilly klein, Director

It started with one little red cart and a backyard.  Gilly is the heart and soul of this centre. For over 30 years, Gilly has dedicated herself to providing a home away from home for young children. By 2008 the demand for places outgrew Gillys and she moved her family out of the centre to create the thriving place of learning, play and love it is renowned for today.

talli kimelman, educational leader

Talli has dedicated her professional life to early years education but eventually joined Gilly’s in 1996. In 2006, Talli was the recipient of the Australian Family Childcare Director of the Year Award giving recognition of her dedication to her lifelong passion for educating young children. Today Talli continues to run parenting workshops in the centre and externally, professional development for schools, childcare centres and private counselling with a particular emphasis on effective behaviour management strategies and school readiness.

Talli is also a trained parenting educator and the author of the highly practical book Make Mine a Mensch. “Make Mine a Mensch” is not just a book but what is aimed to become a movement which recognises that “our children are our future” and nothing is of greater importance than raising a mensch – a happy, well-adjusted resilient child who possesses a strong self-identity, respects himself and others and most essentially his parents.  Talli brings these core values into the Gillys philosophy of education and care.

about our educators

“To ensure the highest standards of care, staff rosters are founded on the principle that children need to feel safe and secure in their environment to explore and learn effectively. We pay the utmost attention to employing qualified and experienced educators who share our philosophy”

  • Our team is lead by Talli Kimelman the Education Leader and experienced Jewish Studies teachers and full and part-time qualified educators. All educators are dedicated early childhood professionals, holding current WWC, police check, and relevant qualification certificates.

  • Each group is directed by a qualified educator who is ably assisted by a team of either qualified assistants or those undertaking a childcare traineeship.
  • Our educators are actively encouraged to continue to undertake relevant formal studies and ongoing professional development.
  • We provide regular external professional development opportunities for our team on topics such as play-based learning, standards in care and leadership.
  • There is always a First Aid and Anaphylaxis trained educator on duty.
  • We have our own regular relief educators to ensure as much continuity of care as possible.

  • Part-time and casual educators are employed to cover breaks, preparation time, in-services, meetings and any days off.

  • Educator levels often exceed the minimum required by State Legislation.

  • Gilly’s ELC is a recognised host training organisation to students from many universities and colleges. We are proud of our long-standing partnership with
