gilly klein, Director
It started with one little red cart and a backyard in Melbourne’s East St Kilda. Gilly is the heart and soul of this childcare centre. For over 30 years, Gilly has dedicated herself to providing a home away from home for young children. By 2008 the demand for places outgrew Gillys and she moved her family out of the centre to create the thriving place of learning, play and love it is renowned for today.

All educators are
dedicated early childhood professionals, holding current WWC and relevant qualification certificates. - Each group is directed by a qualified educator who is ably assisted by a team of either qualified assistants or those undertaking a childcare traineeship.
- Our educators are actively encouraged to continue to undertake relevant formal studies and ongoing professional development.
- We provide regular external professional development opportunities for our team on topics such as play-based learning, standards in care and leadership.
- Most of our educators are First Aid and Anaphylaxis trained.

We have our own regular relief educators to ensure as much continuity of care as possible.

Part-time and casual educators are employed to cover breaks, preparation time, in-services, meetings and any days off.

Educator levels often exceed the minimum required by State Legislation.

Gilly’s ELC is a recognised host training organisation to students from many universities and colleges. We are proud of our long-standing partnership with many of them.
